MAKTEL Machine and Wire Industry Inc. participated in the “2006 Environmental Awards Competition” organized by ISO in the “SME Environmental Incentive Award” category and was awarded the prize.
The environmental management system practices implemented at Maktel Makina, compliance with legal requirements, waste management practices, employee awareness, and the sensitivity shown in creating an environmental culture were approved by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry through preliminary screening and company visits, and the company was deemed worthy of the award. The award was presented to Selman Dündar of Maktel Makina A.Ş. by Kadir Topbaş, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. At the end of the meeting, the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) announced the names of the companies that won the “2006 ISO Environmental Awards.” While no company was found worthy of the “Grand Environmental Award” and the “SME Environmental Project Award,” Borçelik Çelik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Saray Ambalaj Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., and Frito Plastik Kauçuk Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. were deemed worthy of the Environmental Incentive Awards. The SME Environmental Incentive Awards were given to Bahçıvan Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Maktel Makina ve Tel Sanayi A.Ş. The awards were presented by Environment and Forestry Minister Osman Pepe, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş, and Istanbul Governor Muammer Güler.
